ScoutMob: FOOD STARS OF THE BROOKLYN NIGHT BAZAAR

As another successful outing of the Brooklyn Night Bazaar comes to a close, we find ourselves sorting through all of our new favorite local vendors (and planning our strategies for stalking them), particularly those who were on hand with all things edible and booze-riffic. Photographer Clay Williams crawled the market all weekend in search of good eats, and reported back with tales of old loves and new lemonades.

My favorite dishes of the night included chili from newcomer Snap Truckand Lizzmonade’s strawberry kiwi drink, which made me forget that it’s supposed to be cold this time of year. Purple Yam’s combo of a pork rib on rice and a nori-wrapped taco were just amazing, and my only regret of the evening was missing out on the clam roll served by Gowanus seafood shack, Littleneck. Vegetarian fare was available too at Nile Valley and The Regal Vegan, which offered their specialty ‘faux gras,’ made from toasted walnuts and lentils.

If there are any lessons to learn from Brooklyn Bazaar, it’s that even holiday shopping is better with food and booze. If you missed the fun, you can get food from some of the same vendors at Dekalb Market daily and The Brooklyn Flea, which will have holiday hours at One Hanson Place this Wednesday and Thursday, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
